Pointers Coaches...(updated July 18)
Sefra opened her first Pointers club in March 2008. She has since expanded to introduce further classes, giving the opportunity for more children to enjoy the fun and benefits of gymnastics and trampoline.
Sefra is a gymnast who trained and competed in Acrobatic Gymnastics, for over 15 years before retirement to concentrate on coaching. During this time she became a trainee coach at the age of 13, and since has built up her skills and qualifications to a high standard. Sefra has now enthusiastically enjoyed coaching for 20 years and coaches the majority of the classes throughout the club, including Pre-School, Youth and Squad. She is also a qualified gymnastics and trampoline competition judge.
Emily is an ex gymnast. She was bought into coaching 15 years ago by Sefra. She has always enjoyed gymnastics and coaching seemed like the perfect first job. Pans out she loves helping children improve and watching them progress to greater levels. What is better then being paid for something you love. Emily has been coach for Pointers from the start and Head coaches one of our Squad gymnastics groups.
Felicity was a trampolinist, coached by Sefra for 10 years. During this time she picked up an interest in coaching by starting as a volunteer, and has now been a coach with Pointers for 10 years. Felicity had an interest in both trampoline and gymnastics coaching. As time has progressed, she has shown more love towards gymnastics coaching, and Head coaches our recreational gymnastic and funfit classes, as well as our Pre-Squad and Squad gymnastics class.
Eden started coaching for Pointers in 2014. She found her love for coaching after watching her younger sisters train and compete for many years. Eden Head coaches one of our Gymnastics Squad groups
Rosie was a trampolinist for many years and competed in small competitions. She started coaching in 2008 as a young trainee and has worked towards gaining her coaching qualifications. Rosie was coaching our recreational gymnastic classes, including our Pre-School and funfit classes. She has left us for a years work placement, but will pop in to cover where she can, and we look forward to welcoming her back in the Summer of 2019
Cathy found her love for Gymnastics and Trampoline after watching her daughter train and then giving it a go herself. Cathy enjoys dance and theatre, and has put these skills into good use when coaching. She has gained her first coaching qualification, and is in the process of gaining more. Cathy is our regular Trampoline Coach since 2016.
Piya has been a Trampolinist since she was 5 years old, and used to compete in recreational and BG competitions. After commenting that she would like to try some coaching, she started coaching for us as a volunteer at the start of 2018 and is currently working towards gaining her Level 1 Trampoline coaching qualification. Piya coaches our Saturday Pre-School and Funfit class.
Becca has been bouncing since she was 2 and a half years old, starting out in kindergym classes. After showing an interest in coaching she started as a volunteer in 2017, and is now working towards gaining her Level 1 Trampoline coaching qualification. Becca assists in our Monday Gymnastics classes and coaches our Wednesday Trampoline classes.
Laura has recently retired from gymnastics after training as a Gymnast with us for many years. She sucessfully competed in our Acro and Tumbling competinions. Laura started coaching for us as a volunteer in 2015 and is currently working towards gaining her coaching qualifications.
Dani started volunteering for us in 2018 and is currently working towards gaining her coaching qualifications.
Megan has been training at a competitive level in Artistic Gymnastics since she was small. She has recently retired from competitive gymnastics and has found an enjoyment for passing on the gymnastics knowledge onto young gymnasts. She also keeps her foot in the training door and trying a knew skill, by joining in our Acrobatic Squad class.
Lucy Hughes - cover coach
Lucy is an ex gymnast and trampolinist who trained at Pointers. She was training in Gymnastics since she was 5 years old and has been training in Trampoline classes most of her teenage life. Lucy was assisting in our recreational Gymnastics classess, Pre-School and Funfit classes. She is now heading off to uni, but will be back during the Summer months to cover and to see everyone.
Andrea Higson - cover coach
Andrea is an ex gymnast and has many years of coaching under her belt. She passed her first gymnastics exam in 1993. Her main speciality now is coaching trampoline and special needs trampoline since 2005 for our sister club. Andrea joins us to cover classes as and when she can. Currently she is coaching our Boys gymnastics class
